Love is here

Found this gorgeous design project all about love and how awesome it is on frankíe's site today. The project started with a callout to create a visual response to the phrase ''I love you". The finalists have been turned into a coffee-table book entitled Love is Here. Very cool. To read more about it, click here
Some of my favourites:

I especially like the last one because it was written on the Berlin Wall.

Book therapy

Don't you just love the deliciousness of sitting down in the sun, with a cold drink and a good book? This is one of my favourite things to do, and I could spend hours doing it (though would turn bright red if I did). It's a great way to de-stress. I went to the annual Lions Book Sale in Hastings last weekend and got ten books, so I have plenty of reading material for summer. I manage to pick up some great bargains at the sale every year, and this year was no exception. I got three which are bestsellers worth about $25 each from a book store, as well as others from favourite authors. Here's what I picked up:

Am currently reading the one at the top - Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones. Pretty good so far! And of course, I couldn't resist buying the latest issue of Frankie when I was in town, and as per usual, it is a glorious issue.

Also, while I was catching up on my favourite blogs I discovered I won a giveaway! Totally made my day! It was from this blog which is aaaaaaaamazing, and by a fellow New Zealander :) See what I won here. Very exciting as I'm relatively new to the blogosphere and haven't ever won anything from a blog before! Choice!

p.s. apologies for not blogging for some time. I've been working insane hours lately and haven't had much time, but I will try to improve :)

Oh Summer

The weekend just past was a very happy one for me, filled with people, places and things I love.
So I don't bore you, here is a condensed version of what I did: turkish, book sale, coffee, work (12-11), sleep, farmers market, Napier, walks along beach/seafront, perusing delis and other delicious shops, cafe lunch, grandma, coffee with grandma, reading, downton abbey, sleeeeeeeeep. Bliss.
It was very close to perfect. If a few other people had been included, and work wasn't on, it most definitely would have been. A few snaps from my weekend:

Possibly the cutest cafe I have ever seen, it's tucked away behind a big steel building so it's quite a little gem! I must visit it at some point this summer.

Nom nom. Hope you had a great weekend lovelies!

Literature Love

IN MEMORIAM KURT VONNEGUT Jr.

Am loving being back in Hawke's Bay so far. Had a super weekend and a great start to the week thus far. My days have been as follows:
Friday - pack up, drive home, catch up with GPs, dinner, movie with sister (Paranormal Activity 2), bed
Saturday - gym with my buddy again (yay!), another movie with sister (All Good Things), shoe shopping, amazing turkish dinner with the bestie, movie in napier with the bestie's bf and friends (The Inbetweeners), bed
Sunday - sleeeeeeep in, reading of book, cooking of dinner, eating of dinner, watching of movie (The Ghost writer), chat to father, bed.

And today I started work which went well. Felt like I'd never left. And it made me happy that the dog at work remembered me. And that I remember how to make coffee's after not doing it for so long :)

But ohemgee these holidays i am soooooooo looking forward to delving into reading for leisure, somthing I haven't been able to do much of this year. I think I've read maybe 10 leisure books this year?! Hardly any. Especially considering I used to easily read a hundred. Im not this big book nerd though, don't get me wrong, but I love to curl up and read. This summer I am aiming to read at least another 10, and want to finally read Catch 22. What makes it even more exciting is that this coming weekend is the annual Lion's book sale which is one of the highlights of my year! It's this hugely popular second hand book sale that I attend every year and come away with some stunning finds. Dad is coming down for the weekend so will be coming with me and I cannot wait!

p.s. I have never read anything by Kurt Vonnegut who features in the above pic, I just like the pic!

Hope you are all having a great week :)

Chicken, a Champion and Chills

Sup g's. Sorry I haven't blogged for a while, I've been occupied with studying for these very near exams!! I'm not looking forward to them but cannot wait for them to be over because that means moving back to the bay to be around friends and in the sun!! Had a pretty decent weekend, as I had two lovely visitors stay with me on Friday and Saturday night. One was the bestie and the other was a close friend of hers who was playing in a squash tourney. Friday night we watched the first of his squash games which was very entertaining because the guy he was playing got rather agro when he kept losing points. He kept yelling and even rugby-style drop-kicked his racket at one point. Lol at some people's inability to handle defeat. Saturday he played his two other games and ended up winning his draw! mean! (hence the 'champion' in the title hehe). We went to Nando's for dinner which was yumas then went and watched Paranormal Activity 3 at the cinema, which despite being very chill-inducing and creeeeeeeeepy, was soooo fun to watch because there was a group of big staunch maori boys next to us who were getting really freaked out! They were hilarious, and made it more comical which was a nice relief! The movie was really good though, very intense!! I recommend seeing it at the movies (even though it's on the big screen) because it's ironically less freaky than watching it at home, in the dark, when it's silent....
See if the trailer creeps you out!

Sadly my guests had to leave today :( but it was nice to have them here. I just wish I hadn't had the looming exams in the back of my mind the whole time. But ooooooooh well. Hope you've had a great weekend!
