Wish list

Busy busy day today. Applied for a flat this morning, fingers crossed we get it! Went and visited two others but I'm afraid I have my heart set on the one we applied for. I'm gonna be super disappointed if we don't get it. Went out for coffee, did some uni work and hit the gym in the arvo then going to a friend's for a movie tonight which should be good!
I have recently felt the urge to go clothes shopping, but I shall do my best to not succumb to this material desire! Need to save up for the up-front payments for the new flat. Didn't realize it was so expensive. Grr, I hate money. But I'm going to share my current clothing wishlist anyway, so I can look and dream...........

Navy Blazer

Combat Boot - Black
Military boots (cept I want ones that are more vintage looking - help?)

Cute dress :)

Looovely lace dress

Trinity Elastic Cuff Pant - Light Chambray
Pants that aren't jeans

Cropped jersey

Cute blouse

Bowler hat

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh if only....but a girl can dream right?!
xx

It's what's on the inside that counts...

Yuss it's Friday :) This makes me happy. I plan on spending tonight writing back to people who are long due a letter. I'm sure I'm becoming more of a nanna this year! Town doesn't really appeal to me anymore.
So yeah, anyways....handed an assignment in today (yay!) then had work which was good. Now about to settle in for the night. Bad thing is, my onesie is currently wet because I washed it so will have to settle for normal pjs tonight. fml.
I'm currently in love with blogs devoted to interior design. I can't wait to have my own house (if I can ever afford it, which doesn't seem ever likely) and decorate it exactly as I want it. Here are some of my favourite pics:

ahhhhhhhh love. how cool would it be to live in a place as fantastic as this?!

Heart skips a beat

Found a flat on trademe that is perfect. Hope and pray it's the one! Spent entire day at uni today which is unusual for me. I'm more of a turn up for class then skedaddle type student. It's late so I'm just going to share my favourite sonnet today, which I was thinking about the other day. My yr13 English teacher introduced it to me  and it's been a favourite of mine ever since.

Sonnet 130

My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damask'd, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground:
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells

Haven't been able to get on the blog lately. For some reason my Google account wasn't signing me. I must admit, I've missed blogging. Even though it was only for 2 days. It's like a diary, an outlet, a way to get things off my chest.
Totally random heading today I know, but it reflects the current state of my brain: muddled. Sooo much going through my head at the moment. Have been having  problems at the flat, have assignments coming out of my ears, trying to fit in hitting the gym, writing back to emails and letters, attending classes, looking for a new flat and working. It's a truly hectic time of life atm. Seriously, I'm sure the wrinkles under my eyes have become more prominent in the last few days. not cool.
And weirdly, don't ask me why or how, I've go the 'Teddybears picnic' song in my head. wtf.
Currently sitting in bed writing this with rain pattering on the roof. It's the most relaxed I've felt in some time. And YAY get a semi-sleep in tomorrow. The first in quite some time, get to sleep in till...wait for it....8AM. woop de doo.
Didn't have uni today because the one tutorial I usually have on Wednesday's was cancelled. But it ended up being incredibly busy nonetheless.Took car in for a WOF, went to public library, picked car up, lunch at flat, work, dinner, uni work, blog. No time for gym today. Feeling quite bad now, haven't been in 4 days. eeek!
I was thinking about bad habits just before (again, no idea how this popped into my head) and realized I have heaps that I want to break. So maybe, putting them up here will help me to actually break them. fingers crossed.

Habits I want to break:
  • Eating too much sugar
  • Using my car when I could take the bus
  • Buying unnecessary items at the supermarket
  • Buying unnecessary clothing items
  • Taking too long to write back to people
  • Not being one to speak up in class
  • Dressing like everyone else
  • Procrastinating
  • Caring what other people think
  • Spending too much time browsing the internet
  • Hardly reading for leisure anymore

This list could go on and on. But I don't want to bore anyone. Not that anyone reads this. But still.
Oh, while I was wandering around in town this morning before the library opened, I came across my new favourite shop. It's called the 'Recycle Boutique' and is on the square. It's the best op/vintage shop I've ever been to coz it specializes in vintage and designer clothes. I could have spent hours in their, but it was a bit awkward because I was the only one in the shop! Find the store website here

And because this post is lacking in the visual department, I'm going to put in three cool photos from tumblr. just coz.

Repetition..but not in a bad way

Had another whirlwind weekend. Saturday: gym, helping a friend's aunt move into her new home, lunch, onesie shopping, uni work, dinner, movie and dessert (apple and rhubarb crumble - YUM). Sunday: filming TV commercial for media paper (soooo much fun!), lunch, uni work, flat hunting (thinking of moving...), visit from friends, poker, looooooooong chat (seriously, some people just don't know when to leave!), drive friend home, very late dinner, bed.
And now it's Monday which means another week of uni (sigh). Can safely say I hate Monday's.
But anyho, I was browsing a fav blog, Daydream Lily and came across some beautiful food shots, so thought I'd share them.

For most of my life I had the dream of becoming a chef after high school, as I love baking, cooking, food...haha. It wasn't until year 13 that I saw what it was like in a commercial kitchen, which kinda put me off. I also had to think about what my strengths were at school and realized they were with words, as I was always better at subjects like English, History, Classics, that sort of thing. So decided to study Journalism instead. It is still a dream of mine to do a chef course and I was thinking the other day that if I did, I could become a food critic or work at a food magazine or something - which would be absolutely perfect for me :)
enjoy the snaps xx

Onesie

My friend and I today succumbed to the trend...we tried to resist but failed...we bought a onesie each. They are incredibly ugly and unflattering but omigoodnessme SO warm. We got matching ones (haha!) which are bright pink with sheep on them. We actually cracked up for ages when we got home and tried them on! But you know, what does it matter if you're only sleeping in them! And seriously, when you're a student and it's warmer outside than inside your flat....all you care about is keeping warm! (standards lower considerably in many aspects when you're a student!). So, as a tribute to the onesie, I've found some pictures of them to share today :)

My favourite is the navy and white striped one. Mine is not as cool as these but see, onesie's CAN be cool!

It's Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday...gag (but yay)

Most defs hate that Rebecca Black song, but LOVE that it's Friday! Had a pretty sweet day today, spent at Uni and the gym. Though uni isn't really fun, it's definitely better when you know it's Friday and you don't have it tomorrow! It's going to be a quiet weekend for me, catching up with work and chillaxing. Saturday night I plan to curl up and watch a movie and though that may sound nanna-ish and boring, it's just what I feel like. Plans could always change though.........haha.
Today I'm gonna share a song that I am actually addicted to at the moment. It's real indie/vintage sounding (if that makes sense?) and I can't get enough of it. The music vid totally suits the song too, it's got that sorta youth group, forever young feel to it. It's nostalgic and it makes me happy.

Oh, I first listened to this song and hard out recognized it from somewhere but couldn't figure out where from! That really bugs me so please let me know if you know. Is it from an ad on TV...a show on TV...a movie...? grrr.

Chilling at uni

Sitting at uni, in some down-time, browsing through my favourite blogs and websites. It's chilly here today, but it's lovely. Coats, milo, gloves, scarves and soup.bliss. I love winter. Always have. While looking through PostSecret I found a picture that I loooooooove. Maybe it's because I'm a uni student, or maybe it's just that I can relate to the feeling of liking someone but not having the guts to go up and speak to them. It just caught my attention and I love it. Hope you do too.

it's so cute. xx

Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug

Had a freakin' busy day today, 7am-7pm non stop. Went to the gym in the morning, then class, then had work which went overtime and was so busy all day, like on the go with no breaks. not even kidding. It's good to get hours in weeks when I have downtime though, in between assignments, thus allowing me to work without freaking out :)
One of my best friends/flattie and I had a crazy time last night rewriting 'Like a Boss' by The Lonely Island, with a uni student theme. It had us cracking up for a looooooooong time. I love times like that, when you just chill without any worries and do something totally silly. Wish times like these came more often.

The title of this post is a quote by Mark Knopfler, and brings me to the theme of this post...awesome quotes. So I am sharing some of my favourites with you today. They make me happy :)

I wasn't kissing her, I was just whispering in her mouth
 - Chico Marx

Fathers be good to your daughters, daughters wil love like you do. Girls become lovers, who turn into mothers, so mothers be good to your daughters too
 – John Mayer

If we weren't all crazy we would go insane
 - Jimmy Buffet

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm ... As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands. One for helping yourself, the other for helping others
 – Audrey Hepburn

For the grace of god that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say 'no' to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled and upright lives, while we wait for the blessed hope - the glorious appearing of our great God and saviour, Jesus Christ who gave himself for us, to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good

Work

Feeling a tad uninspired today. Thinking it might be the grey, howling, damp, depressing weather. Today was an intense uni day, followed by a gym session. Because I haven't really got a plan for this post, I thought I'd share some pictures of where I work - Caccia Birch House. It's a huge old homestead in Palmerston North that is currently used for events like weddings and conferences. It's absolutely beautiful.

Apologies for the different sized shots, my computer won't let me get the large ones. Hopefully you can see how beautiful it is anyway :)

Sunday 15 May 2011

And another week rolls around..

Fully not keen to get back into uni work after a weekend of zero productivity. But was talking to some classmates today and worked out we only have a month left till we finish for the semester!!!
So freakin' exciting. Until then, it's gonna be an all-out knuckle down to get assignments, tests, readings etc (all that fun stuff) done.
Today I feel like sharing some mint photography from one of my fav blogs - deers and bears. It suits my mood.
Such a lazy day here today. Hopefully will work up the energy to hit the gym later....we shall see

Wonderful Weekend :)

Had such an amazing weekend with two best friends. Went out to dinner on Friday night here:

Then went to the supermarket to stock up on these (the best flavours):

Then went home, curled up and watched this:

Saturday was spent shopping, then getting ready for a night of partying.
Drinks, town, dodgy guys, dancing, friends, helping drunk neighbour get inside, sleep, shower, lunch, farewell to best friend.....blog.
That's pretty much it. Can't believe it's almost Monday already. Truly a whirlwind weekend.
Rest of day is going to be spent sorting stuff out and maybe watching a movie later on.

Treasures at the Grandparents house

It has been a busy day for me today. Gym, uni work, class, buying a new shower curtain (exciting! haha), getting a new eftpos card, uni work.....etc.
My best friend rang me last night to let me know that she is heading down for a visit this weekend! Sooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!!! She only lives two hours drive away, but because we are both studying towards degrees, we are too busy to see each other during the semester. I'm uber pumped that she's coming to visit. It makes me even more excited for the weekend to roll around!! :)
Anyways.......during the summer holidays, I was living with my grandparents and found some gorgeous vintage treasures that they still have at their house. I photographed some of my favourite discoveries, so here they are:

Wtf?! Vegemite used to be in a tin?!

                                                    <3 vintage books

How cute is this?! It reminds me of the Tin man's oil can in the Wizard of Oz

Hopefully I can put dibbs on these things and inherit them one day :) haha. The rest of the night for me is going to be spent doing my assignment which is due tomorrow. It's about the symbolic annihilation of women in the media. Interesting, yes. Tedious, also yes. 500 words to go............xx

Tunes I'm listening to

I don't know why, but this year I have really gotten into music. Not that I wasn't before, but my music consumption has for some reason increased tenfold. Maybe even twenty or thirtyfold! Its partly due to my friends boyfriend giving me a whole heap of music which I am slowly getting through listening to. I have recently discovered a passion for electro/dub music, which always helps me get in the party mood on the weekend, though I still like the occasional pop song. My favourite tunes currently are:

  • Marry you - Bruno Mars
  • Truth - The earlybirds (yay for NZ music!)
  • The best love song - T-Pain ft Chris Brown
  • Look at me now - Chris Brown ft Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne (super gang)
  • Girls fall like dominoes AND Super bass - Nicki Minaj
  • On the road - Kidz in Space (yay for NZ music!)
  • House party - 3OH!3 (this song is craaaaaaaazy and the vid would totes make you trip out if you were high/drunk!!)
  • Loud - Stan Walker (yay for NZ music!)
  • Thunderstruck - Crookers (old, I know, but still amazing)
  • Incredibad - The lonely Island (rofl material)
  • Miami to Ibiza - Swedish House Mafia vs Tinie Tempah
  • Set me on fire - Pendulum
  • The vulture - Pendulum
  • Danger mixed - Corporate Chris ft D.Roc
  • My name is Skrillex - Skrillex
  • Scary Monsters and nice sprites - Skrillex

All of these songs are amazing and I play them over and over and over. But my absolute favourite at this point in time is this song below...again by Pendulum (possibly my fav band?)

Monday 9 May 2011

It's Tuesday already..!

After a hectic weekend, which involved zero uni work, I am resolving to have a very productive week this week. I have an assignment due on Friday which will be top priority! Then let loose on the weekend after it's handed in! haha. I attended the college of business awards last night to receive a certificate, which was nice. An excuse to get made up :)
On a sad note, all my easter chocolate is now gone. Scoffed the rest of it last night. But then, at least I'm not having a 'double down' burger today!
My best friend, who is studying a graphic design degree, is really into photography and is SOOO talented. So I thought I'd share some of my favourite snaps of hers. x
